Students from C-FB ISD have been accepted to colleges, universities and special programs across the county and world providing them the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Whatever their dream, C-FB will help your child find the right path post high school to achieve their goal.

Whether your child wants to attend Yale to study business, attend Texas A&M to study engineering, attend Brookhaven to become a welder, or serve in the military, we will provide rigorous curricular opportunities to prepare them for their future.

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) month. When I say “Career and Technical Education” - I am not talking about the wood shop class of days gone by. Today, we offer state-of-the-art technology-filled classrooms preparing our students – your child- to compete on a global level. From certified nursing assistants to welding certifications, C-FB ISD is providing a wide array of certifications and workforce preparation for our students.

This may be a shocking fact but a study by Harvard University states that “27 percent of people with post-secondary licenses or certificates earn more than the average bachelor’s degree recipient.” Also, 62% of all jobs will require post-secondary education by 2018. Your CTE courses offer students a way to get started on their career preparation while still in high school!

Here are some facts about C-FB that you might not know:

• In 2012, 23 students from the Early College High School graduated with their high school diploma and an associate’s degree from Brookhaven College. 
• In C-FB ISD, students can choose from over 30 Advanced Placement classes allowing them to earn college credit in high school. 
• R. L. Turner High School received a grant to increase the number of students earning college credit on AP exams. The campus has had an 83% increase in qualifying scores in English, Mathematics, and Science with over 1,100 AP tests taken since the grant began. 
• The 2012 graduates of Carrollton-Farmers Branch earned over 15 million dollars in college scholarships. 
• Also, students can take the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at Ranchview High School. Students completing this rigorous course of study, designed to meet the needs of highly motivated and academically talented high school students, can graduate with 24 college hours. C-FB is one of the few districts in North Texas that offers the K-12 IB continuum.
• C-FB ISD has 5400 students taking 91 CTE courses taught by 65 CTE instructors. 
• C-FB offers 18 CTE dual credit courses allowing students to earn college credit while in high school.
• C-FB offers 19 industry certifications through CTE courses at our high schools. 
• 457 students are participating in internships involving more than 160 industries while in high school.

• CTE students have the opportunity to participate in competitions. This year 79 DECA students have qualified to compete at state.
